Carnival Creatures: Centipedes and Snails

Mr. Confetti finally made his way down to the ground
pieces of paper remake a tree
a little part of the party
found vocabulary
washed back together most improbably
near the sewer's gated door
impossible words and unmovable powers
replace the stone towers where he used to work
impossible birds and removable flowers replace the stone towers once more
temper temper temper temper temper tantrums
torpedo toes touching the stone
got temporal temperature temper temper tantrums
tickle tarantula toes thumbing a bone

earthworm head or is it the tale
about the centipede and the snail
how do you decide which way to go
and to me it all seems so slow
like the ivy that's been secretly crawling to the ground
like the moon steadily going round
like a truth to be found
both simple and profound
like the carnival coming to town

spaghetti fingers spin eights around a fork
into a mouth or an open sky
diving, distant drifting, dust splitting and sitting
for a moment gravity defied

earthworm head or is it the tale
about the centipede and the snail
how do you decide which way to go
and to me it all seems so slow

like the ivy that's been secretly crawling to the ground
like the moon steadily going round
like a truth to be found
both simple and profound
like the carnival coming to town
a carnival comin', little parade happenin'
the earth keeps spinning, and the moon is splitting
while I'm still sitting on the side of the road, on the ground
waiting for the sailors on the sequined floats
to throw some candy round
got a carnival coming to town
